More Christmas Fun

The singing of O Christmas Tree has been a Winders/Weaver tradition for as long as I can remember. Feel free to sing along, I'm sure you'll know the words...

We opened presents with the Weavers on Christmas morning at our house, then headed to Raleigh to visit with the Johnsons. Favorite presents this year included, but not limited to: stocking stuffer dental wisps (everyone got some), cloth book that makes crinkle noises and can go in your mouth (Tyler), lamp for the piano (Leslie), P-Jam pants and comfy slippers (Andrew), and Beggin' Strips (Connor). We had a fabulous Christmas. Best present of all: spending lots of time with Tyler-head, the 3 Wise Uncles (Dan, Marcus, and Michael), and the rest of our family.

Christmas Fun

This is the most I think I've heard Tyler laugh at one time. What a crazy boy.

Santa Baby

We're very excited for Christmas here.  Thanks to his grandmothers, Tyler has plenty of Christmas outfits.  This is Day 12 of wearing a different Christmas outfit-  we're counting down till Christmas.  Don't worry, we've got enough outfits to make it till then.  These naked Santa pics were taken at the beginning of December before we started the Christmas outfit countdown.

Merry Christmas everyone!  Don't forget to vote on our new poll-  Who does Tyler look like the most?  (on the sidebar of the blog)

End of Semester Fun

This semester is almost over. Finally. This one has been real hard for me- balancing home, work, and school. But let's not focus on that, let's focus on some recent fun we've had.

We spent Thanksgiving 2009 in Raleigh at Andrew's parents house. I had to work Thanksgiving Day and the day after, but I finished up around 3 and was able to eat my fair share of turkey and dressing.

He had peas for the first time for his Thanksgiving feast.

Yummy peas

All bundled up when our heat broke

We looked smashing

And as always, Tyler remains super cute

Off to New Orleans!

Tyler, Nana, and I went to New Orleans, LA in mid-November. We drove, yes, drove. And somehow we made it- all 14 hours (one way) of the trip. I think Tyler must have been the only baby in New Orleans. We would walk down Bourbon street and people would clear the area to make way for the stroller. Then as we'd pass, they'd look in the stroller and exclaim, "There's a baby in there!" (like they'd never seen a baby before). We had a wonderful time. Here's some highlights...
Baniettes (how do you spell that??), coffee, and live music at
Cafe du Monde

On the Riverwalk

Tyler was amazed at the Aquarium

Yikes, sharks!
(we were the first ones there so got
lots of alone time at all the exhibits)

The penguins LOVED Tyler.
I think they saw those little fingers and thought
what great "finger" foods they would make.

Tyler's new found love: his feet

Oh yeah! The whole reason why we went to New Orleans-
I presented two posters at the
national speech and hearing conference- ASHA

Guess what we did last night.......

... met Roy Williams!!!

Us with our new pal, Roy

Roy Williams was having a book signing at The Regulator Bookstore in Durham, so off we went in hopes to meet our favorite (active) basketball coach. He spoke with Tyler afterwards and told him what a cute baby he was..... duh Roy. And no Roy, we did not name Tyler after Tyler Hansbrough, though most people ask us that.

It's been a while since we last posted to the blog. This semester has been very hard and tiring for me and I've had little time to spend with the family, clean the house, or just relax, let alone keep up with the blog, so let me recap a few of the highlights of our last month...

Tyler gets even cuter!
He also got his first tooth.
The second one came in the next week.

We finally get to go to a football game this season

We don't look 30, do we...

Tyler is a pumpkin for his first Halloween

Andrew and I go away for our first weekend without the baby.
We went to Washington, DC for Cameron and Jack's wedding and stayed with our friend, Liz Gaskins. Grandmama and Granddaddy Johnson kept Tyler and we only called 3 times a day to check in on him. Of course, he was fine and having a great time with his grandparents. What a lucky baby.... and lucky grandparents! Ha ha ha. Andrew's parents regularly keep Tyler so we can go out for dinner or out with friends, which has been absolutely wonderful! Thank you so very, very much. This was their first entire weekend with him. I think they all enjoyed it. And Tyler came home in the cutest new overalls.
Meanwhile, Mommy and Daddy were partying hard...
well, as hard as 30 year olds can party

Go Heels.

Dan and Hillary were in town too-
we got to hang out with them both nights!

What a beautiful bride!

Us with Susan and Patrick

We knew so many people in town that weekend. During the day on Saturday, we were able to do some sightseeing with our friends Ann and Brad and the Novak Family. Ann and Julie ran in a marathon the next day..... say what?!?!?!? Whew.

We finally made it to the Lincoln Memorial.
We've been trying for years...

In the Pumpkin Patch

During my Fall "Break" from school, Tyler and I went down to Atlanta to visit my family. We got some funny shots of Tyler in the pumpkin patch. We had to prop the pumpkins up around him so he wouldn't topple over. (He still can't quite sit up on his own.)

Tyler Pumpkin Head

Wish you could read his shirt. It says I love my Mummy.
Ha, ha. We're so easily amused these days.

Asheville Here We Come!

We had such a great time in Asheville this past weekend. It was jammed packed full of fun. Friday night we went to the Black Crowes concert with Dan and Hillary. Andrew was able to get us 3rd row seats and the show rocked. Our great friends Ann and Brad babysat Tyler and dogsat Connor while we were gone. I know, what nice friends we have!! And to top it off, they even picked us up from the concert and drove us back to their house. I repeat myself- what nice friends we have!!

I wish I would have taken some pics of Ann and Brad to post to the blog. And I wish I would have taken a picture of the daddy breakfast we had on Saturday morning.
