Baby Johnson #2 On the Way

We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Baby Johnson #2. The due date of late November is going to be here before we know it! Ty-Ty has been told the big news, but he doesn't comprehend it all yet. Guess he won't until the baby is actually here. I've been feeling good-- tired mostly. We had our big anatomy ultrasound earlier this week and Baby #2 looks healthy (thank you Lord) and happy (or so we hope!). This one is measuring a big head just like the Tyler-head, of course! And to answer the big question-- No, we did not find out the sex. Everyone is just going to have to wait and be surprised, just like we all were with Tyler. Here's some early pics of the littlest Johnson.

Supes cute little profile pic

Go away, I'm sleeping here

Little Tar Heel in the making

This baby is going to have to get some more meat on those bones if s/he plans on fitting into this family!

See ya! Bye-bye!

Man Overboard!

Look at this sweet boy sleeping during his nap. I had to take a quick picture of him as I knew it would be the last time I would see him sleeping in his crib.

As most of yall know, Tyler has never been the best sleeper. Since transitioning to the "big boy" class at school (Early Preschool 1) his sleeping habits have been really off- taking an hour to fall asleep, waking up multiple times during the night, staying up crying for an hour or so each time. The sleeping issues climaxed right after his second birthday when one night he was so frustrated he jumped out of his crib. I had just left him in hysterics (after attempting to get him to fall asleep for more than an hour) and by the time I got back in my bed and took my glasses off-- I heard a thump and within seconds our bedroom door had flown open and a crying Tyler-head was rushing in. He slept with us the rest of the night.
We went through similar antics for the next three nights, until I was so anxious he was going to break his leg, or worse, that we had to do something. It was time to transition to the Big Boy Bed (BBB). The BBB transition was happening sooner than we expected, but we figured since we already weren't getting any sleep anyway, we might as well do it now rather than later.
Books lined up all in a row, just like he likes them

Looks like nap time is over, hhhmmmm.... I need to get out of here, what should I do...

Ahh yes, time for Man Overboard!
I had to stop him there, afraid a brain injury would happen or something.

The transition to the BBB has actually been going a lot better than I thought it would. It's been about 3 weeks now. Tyler's twin bed mattress and box springs are on the floor, Nana bought him some fabulous new truck sheets, and he can line his books up just like he did in his crib. Daddy can get the Mister to fall asleep quickly, but it takes Mommy a little longer. I have to sit in a chair outside his room so he can see me until he falls asleep. He still wakes up at least once in the middle of the night and we've been taking turns going in there and sleeping with him until he falls back asleep. Everyone seems to be sleeping a lot better now.
Tyler-head is a stubborn boy- wonder where he gets that from?
Just like Daddy, once Tyler makes up his mind, that's what he's doing. Like with the BBB. One night he decided he wasn't going to sleep in his crib anymore. So he didn't. When he was a baby, one day he decided he didn't like his passey anymore and never used it again. More recently, Tyler decided he didn't like sitting in a highchair. Heaven forbid we try to put him in a highchair now. This makes dinners out extremely fun. He's a crazy man and we love him. He gives great hugs and kisses which makes up for everything. And recently, we've had extra time to be super cuddly in bed- I call him my snuggle-bunny- which definitely makes up for it.

What a Ham

This pose was completely self-initiated by the Tyler-Head, but just too cute to let slip by without a photo-op. Eat your heart out Brad Pitt.

Tyler Turns Two

It's a super exciting time at the Johnson house at the end of May. Not only did Leslie and Andrew celebrate 5 years of marriage, but more exciting Tyler turned 2. We had a low-key celebration at home with family and friends. Tyler had a fabulous time, and we think all the other guests did too (at least we hope). Here are the highlights...

He was a little more excited this year than last

And definitely more excited about the cupcakes this year

For the big celebration we bought a bouncy house. Yes, bought. So any of you close by are welcome to borrow it whenever- it's great to get out some extra toddler energy.

I think Tyler liked the slide part better than the bouncy part

Bouncing with all my peeps: Daddy, Grandaddy, and Nana

Tyler was very excited about presents this year. It was remarkable to see his face light up at each gift. Our friends and family are too kind.

2 Year old Updates:

Calls himself "Ty-Ty"
Thinks he can ride Connor (dog), Daddy, Mommy, the couch, etc like a horse and yells out "Neigh!!!"
Loves anything to do with trucks (firetrucks, dump trucks, tow trucks), construction vehicles (mo-mo (motor grader), diggers, bulldozers)
Favorite color is blue
Always wants to be outside- especially swinging at the playground
Stalks the neighborhood for people mowing their grass just to sit across the street and watch them
Remains a picky eater
Is starting to sing along to various songs and pretend to play them on the piano
Loves to dance to The Best of the Wiggles CD- fast forwards through the songs he doesn't like and says, "Noooooo..."
Still does not sleep well at night
Has a variety of hats he likes to wear (frog hat, alligator hat, navy fishing hat, fireman's helmet, wizard's hat, etc...)

His ezcema was getting worse again, but we found a good pediatric dermatologist and it's looking much better now, even his hands which have been crusty for months!
