Baby Sam Arrives!!

I don't have a lot of time to write, we're pretty busy here with a new baby and a 2 1/2 year old. But, the Johnsons would like to proudly announce the arrival of the newest addition to our household- Samuel Reid Johnson. Born November 18, 2011 at 8:13 am, weighing in at 9 pounds, 10 ounces. Mommy and baby are both doing well. Daddy is off work for the next few weeks, Tyler is a happy big brother, and Nana will be here for a while helping us out. Will write more later, but here are some pictures to enjoy for now.

A bit blurry, but you get the idea-
don't worry, you'll be seeing lots of pictures of this handsome fella

2 healthy and handsome Johnson boys-
we're very blessed

Homecoming 2011

“… But sometimes when …

the sifting moonlight falls —

they’ll think of this night here

And of these old brown walls …

They’ll think again of Chapel Hill and —

Thinking — come back home.”

Thomas Wolfe, senior poem, 1920

We had a great time this past weekend with a large group of my Kappa sisters who came back to Chapel Hill for Homecoming. It wasn't quite the same as 2004 (or so) when 14 (or so) Kappas stayed at our house for Homecoming, but it was a wonderful time all the same. It seems we all picked up just where we had left off. I only really remembered to take pictures at our tailgating party, but the weekend was full of other activities including: lunch at Monterrey's for Andrew's birthday, drinks at the XYZ Lounge, UNC basketball game vs. Pembroke, UNC football game vs. Wake. Of course, there was lots of time spent on Franklin Street too, but at 36 weeks preggers- I just couldn't make it out late night. I miss all my girls and wished they all still lived close by. Maybe one day they will all return to me. Until then, Andrew and I will keep the home NC fires burning for them all.

There was a cornhole tournament at the tailgating scene. These people take this annual event very seriously. So seriously in fact, that this is a picture of the opening ceremonies which included the playing of the Star Spangled Banner. I had to take a picture because I was sure no one would believe me if I didn't. Rock on cornhole players.

Reliving our sorority days with a good 'ole group picture.
We can strike a pose very quickly.

The boys.
They stuck with us despite the craziness.
